Referring Veterinarians

North Shore Veterinary Hospital is pleased to be able to offer the services of a board-certified medical oncologist to the community for diagnostic and treatment options for pets with suspected or those already diagnosed cancer.

Local Referral Care

Dr. Lundberg is now taking appointments for your clients and patients who may need: more diagnostic work up for suspected cancer cases, discussion of prognosis and treatment options for a wide variety of cancers, and/or treatment utilizing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy.

Diagnostics that are available through the Oncology Specialty Service include but are not limited to:

Fine needle aspirate/cytology or biopsy/histopathology of various organs including lymph nodes, cutaneous/subcutaneous lesions, intramuscular lesions etc.
Abdominal ultrasound with fine needle aspirates for diagnosis and staging of cancer
Ultrasound guided aspirates of intra-thoracic lesions (pulmonary, mediastinal, etc)
Flow cytometry and/or PARR for challenging lymphoreticular neoplasms
Bone lesion aspirates and/or biopsy
Bone marrow aspirates and/or biopsy

Medical treatments available

Traditional chemotherapy (intravenous, oral, oral metronomic)
- Including but not limited to: UW-Madison CHOP protocol for multicentric lymphoma, several rescue protocols for multicentric lymphoma, high grade/metastatic mast cell tumor protocols
Immunotherapy
- Oncept melanoma vaccine for dogs with malignant melanoma, only available to specialists
Targeted therapy
- Palladia (toceranib phosphate) for use in dogs and cats, as well as other off-label targeted therapies for a wide variety of cancers

She can work closely with other specialists in the Midwest who are trained in these areas to coordinate the best care possible for your clients and patients.
