For thirty years, Dr. Alex LaPlante has dedicated her career to the health and well-being of North Shore animals. She brought her extensive experience to North Shore Veterinary Hospital in 2025. Dr. Alex loves the day-to-day variety of her profession and can often be found out in the community assisting with the hospital’s mobile preventative care service.
Her clinical interests include pain management and geriatric care to help aging animals live comfortable, active lives. Dr. Alex’s deep bond with animals started early; growing up next door to her grandfather’s farm, she spent many hours caring for cattle, riding the tractor, and developing a passion for horses. Her empathy for senior animals comes naturally—at her off-the-grid home in Two Harbors, she manages the care of her own two semi-retired, 21-year-old horses alongside her team of competitive sled dogs.
